May 11th lesson

Dear students,
Today you will have a practice test (one of 10 tests) to help you master the first 300 words of the Academic Word List. The first 30 words (sublist 1a) are:

analysis, approach, area, assessment, assume, authority, available, benefit, concept, consistent, constitutional, context, contract, create, data, definition, derived, distribution, economic, environment, established, estimate, evidence, export, factors, financial, formula, function, identified, income

You will be asked to match these words with their English definitions. Don't worry if you do badly on this test as it won't affect your grade.
In July, about 10 percent of these words (three words) will make up your final test of 30 words with their definitions taken from the first 10 sublists of the AWL.

You will have access to today's (MAY 11th) test from 1pm until 5pm (normally in class you will be allowed just 30 minutes to complete). Please wait until MAY 11th.

AWL 1A practice test

Kind regards,
Chris Elvin
